the possibilities of recording and sending full range of perceptions.
untill now there was the
hugshirt ( is a shirt that allows people to exchange the physical sensation of a hug over distance)
emosive ( is a new service for mobile devices which allows capturing, storing and sharing of fleeting emotional experiences.)
always wondered if they are going to invent something that would send smells and tastes for making the range close to complete.

wellllllll.....the newscientist informs that :
"Engineers at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan are building an odour recorder capable of doing just that. Simply point the gadget at a freshly baked cookie, for example, and it will analyse its odour and reproduce it for you using a host of non-toxic chemicals."

this is contemporary art

"50.000 buttons were pinned on a wall, each printed with a single word representing one of a hundred possible responses to contemporary art."

the landscape connection

found out about city wipeout

"It seems that today's cities are filled up with images. Spaces without some form of advertisements are becoming scarce. The city-dweller's field of vision is dominated by commerce. The signage in cities provides an international language for navigation and is part of Western consumer culture, in New York and Tokyo as well as in Helsinki."

"Architect and researcher Pasi Kolhonen wants to reveal with his City Wipeout installation just how many images, texts and signs we find in our everyday environment. The installation consists of pictures which unveil an ordinary face of the city centre. The pictures are reflected one-by-one on the wall.

The user interface allows the spectators to wipe the view clean of everything but the advertisements, signs or logos. All that remains is the blanket of advertising that covers the entire city. That blanket is not always noticed although it is constantly present in our daily life. "

" At the moment, Pasi Kolhonen is studying the effects of advertising on city space as a full-time researcher at the School of Visual Culture in the University of Art and Design Helsinki.

you don't have to be blind to see the enormous potential that blogs have.
the hidden persuader informs about:" Big ad agencies buying space in hyper-visited blogs in order to showcase their creative work."
this is not new.as far as i know there are already 2 romanian ad agencies (agency a and agency b) that have blogs, one romanian newspaper that promotes blogs and beer company that owns a very boring one.
still, because sometimes you can find crapy info on a blog that usually gives good info, you still need someone to manage and sort the info.
iqads informs about scooptwords: you blog we sell.which seems to be a good tool to order info.

coming soon

An "emotionally aware" computer being developed by British and American scientists will be able to read an individual's thoughts by analyzing a combination of facial movements that represent underlying feelings.
"The system we have developed allows a wide range of mental states to be identified just by pointing a video camera at someone," said Professor Peter Robinson, of the University of Cambridge in England.

''A portable scanning device that reads text to visually impaired people will go on sale in the UK next month.
Called the K-NFB, it is the latest product to be developed by American inventor Raymond Kurzweil.
Until now, scanning and text-to-speech output meant having to take the printed material to the hardware.
The K-NFB, which combines a PDA and a digital camera, means that people will be able to read menus, train timetables and product labels in shops.''

the device is around 2600£.

robot sex

''People are going to be having sex with robots within five years'' he said. So should limits be set on the appearance, for example, of such robotic sex toys?
The greatest danger, however, is likely to lie with robots that are able to learn from their ''experiences''. As systems develop, robots are likely to have much more sophisticated self-learning mechanisms built into them and it may become impossible to predict exactly how they will behave.
''My guess is that we'll have conscious machines before 2020,'' said Ian Pearson, futurologist-in-residence at BT. ''If we put that in a robot, it's an android. That is an enormous ethical change.''

future is now

in the cultural supliment.
this makes me think that when it's writen on paper, it's real.paper will always be the final reality check.even when you pay online for something you still receive papers and you still have to handwrite a signature.
well maybe future changes many things < ( like 5 years ago the only way to communicate was the telephone and letters, no 160 characters poetry, no e-mail love letters ) how long since you wrote a letter? > just wondering if it's going to change this need of papers signatures and receipts.

"Using 'always on' technology, cell phones with SMS messaging allow an audience to interact with large speech bubbles projected onto a flat surface, like the facade of a building. The bubbles are positioned near windows and doors to encourage an audience to create the conversations happening inside. The audience receives a flyer with the number and simple instructions. A participant sends a text message to the provided phone number and it is then displayed inside the speech bubble. Multiple bubbles may be used and the audience can direct their input to a specific bubble. "

autobahn

been to autobahn, by neil labute
a play in the traffic.
4 cars.driver and right seat passenger the actors, 3 back seats passengers the audience.
every car a different story.and you swapped cars.somehow it didn't feel strange or unknown.have you ever traveled with friends who drove and talked about things that you had no idea and after a while you began to be interested in their conversation and started to make up stories about characters you have no idea about.and relationships between them.and motives and drives.well it's close to that.
anyway i liked it.because i think that this is the only way contemporary theatre can exist.in a real context.based on real actions reactions.
and i really like the ticket which is a keyring.
now i have more keyrings than keys.
so pink fish, autobahn ticket and secco(treasures from wasteland)

about couples internet love.
"Do couples mail each other interesting URLs, do they text message each other even when they could be talking face-to-face?
What about "asymmetrical addiction" -- does the first one to be bored online dictate offline activities, or does the one who wants to stay online longest make the other one click around aimlessly for hours?"

''Carsten Holler involves his audience in explorations intended to generate visual events and stimulate feelings and thoughts to bring about shared experiences. We look forward to seeing what Höller will create for this seventh commission in The Unilever Series.''

The Unilever Series of annual commissions was launched in 2000 when Tate Modern opened with Louise Bourgeois's I Do, I Undo, I Redo. The Spanish artist Juan Munoz was the second artist commissioned in 2001 with Double Bind, while the first British artist to be commissioned was Anish Kapoor with Marsyas in 2002. Olafur Eliasson's Weather Project illuminated the Turbine Hall in 2003 and Bruce Nauman's mesmerising sound installation, Raw Materials, opened in October 2004. Since October 2005, Rachel Whiteread's EMBANKMENT has filled the Turbine Hall.

failure?

it's a long time since a dj made me wonder about music about why do you go to parties, etc.
the thing was simple.andy smith(portishead).he's here but he doesn't have any records.airline mess.so djs rusu&flore bring their records from a completely different range.and THE dj plays and what was amazing was that

1.he could have said..you know i don't have my records so i'm not playing and

2.he managed to do some great things with somebodyelse's records.and then they bring hip hop records which somehow were closer to his thing.and he was good.there were moments when he would say things about the tracks.

so at first you were disappointed because you knew what he can do and in which area, but after a while, knowing the man didn't have his own records, and listening to what he was doing , you just couldn't leave.
so now i'm wondering what is a dj to do in such circumstances? play or not play? which thing would have been more disappointing? is it a failure that he didn't play his thing? wasn't it interesting to see what an experienced dj can do with a limited area of records.somehow it felt like a dj exam where he had to improvise with somebodyelse's records.
i would give him a clean clear A.

and now i'm wondering if i should go to stimultan just because it's going to be in a parking lot? i'm not very keen on the bands there so can a new place improve somebody's performace?

really looking forward for oneself
